Position Summary:
- The District Librarian is responsible for leading the library programs across three schools in the district, fostering a love for reading and lifelong learning in a Christ-centered environment. This role involves managing two library aides, overseeing all library operations, and supporting students and staff with access to resources that align with educational and spiritual goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Current state certification/licensure as a school librarian or media specialist preferred
- Experience in a school or library setting
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Commitment to upholding and promoting Catholic values in education.
- Knowledge of library systems, digital tools, and technology integration in education.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, teachers, students, and parents.
- Proficiency in collection development, budgeting, and resource management.
- Passion for literacy, student engagement, and fostering a love for learning.
Leadership & Administration
- Develop and implement a unified library vision and mission across all three schools in alignment with Catholic values.
- Manage and supervise two library aides, providing training, mentorship, and support.
- Maintain library schedules, budgets, and records for efficient operations.
- Ensure compliance with diocesan, state, and federal regulations regarding library services.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom curriculum and provide instructional support.
- Develop and lead literacy programs, book fairs, and other events to foster a love for reading.
- Provide professional development opportunities for staff related to library resources and technology.
Library Operations
- Oversee the acquisition, organization, cataloging, and maintenance of library resources (books, digital materials, and media).
- Evaluate and curate collections that reflect Catholic teachings and diverse perspectives to meet the academic and spiritual needs of students.
- Utilize library software and technology to manage inventory and provide easy access for users.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of library programs and services across all schools.
- Promote student literacy and research skills through programs, workshops, and one-on-one support.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and academic growth.
- Guide students in using library resources responsibly and ethically, emphasizing the values of honesty and integrity.
- This position requires travel between schools within the district. The librarian must be adaptable and able to balance the needs of three unique school communities while maintaining consistent standards.
