Description
Looking for an opportunity to market the career opportunities in your company and industry to a large group of eager young high school students? Then, the Youth Career Expo hosted by the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce Workforce & Education Committee is perfect for you!
About 1,500 area high school juniors and seniors will be attending this event along with Post-High Planning Days (which runs concurrently). More than 15 local schools will be attending. Each of the schools attending the Youth Career Expo will have approximately 25 minutes for their students to circulate through the building and speak with employers.
This is a tremendous chance to link career opportunities with the skills, qualifications, aptitudes and interests needed to be successful in those occupations. It is an opportunity to interest students in a wide variety of careers and professions, and to promote your business to the future workforce.
We will have half of the Barnett Center, as well as an outdoor area for displays. Businesses who participate should plan to have:
-
Hands-on or interactive activities - something visual that will attract students to your booth (i.e. equipment and machinery.)
-
A sign listing the various careers available through your industry.
-
Employees along who can interact and describe their job, education, training nd answer questions.
-
Display or demonstrate skills or tasks that are common to your industry.
-
Provide promotional materials and handouts of each career description, required education and/or training, and starting salary.
-
Bring along one to two door prizes with your company logo
