2018 Youth Career Expo
Looking for an opportunity to market the career opportunities in your company and industry to a large group of eager young high school students?
The Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce Workforce & Education Committee, and the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation will host the 9th Annual interactive Youth Career Expo for the benefit of employers in the Aberdeen Area.
The expo will be held in the Barnett Center at Northern State University on the morning of Thursday, October 4, 2018. While we're still finalizing times with Northern State University, last year's expo ran from 8:15-11:15 am.
About 1,500 area high school juniors and seniors will be attending this event along with Post-High Planning Days (which runs concurrently). More than 15 local schools will be attending. Each of the schools attending the Youth Career Expo will have approximately 25 minutes for their students to circulate through the building and speak with employers.
This is a tremendous chance to link career opportunities with the skills, qualifications, aptitudes and interests needed to be successful in those occupations. It is an opportunity to interest students in a wide variety of careers and professions, and to promote your business to the future workforce.
No registration/ booth fee for Chamber members! We would like to make this event as exciting, interactive and informative as possible. This event is open to all Chamber member employers in the Aberdeen Area and promises to be a unique way to market your business to potential employees.
The committee will arrange businesses according to the 16 Career Clusters - Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources; Architecture & Construction; Arts, A/V Technology & Communications; Business, Management & Administration;Education & Training; Finance; Government & Public Administration;Health Science; Hospitality & Tourism; Human Services; InformationTechnology; Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security; Manufacturing; Marketing, Sales & Service; Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics; and Transportation, Distribution & Logistics.
